The Evidence Commission report: A one-year update and 2023 action plan
The Evidence Commission – both its commissioners and its secretariat – is at the centre of global conversations about how to improve the use of evidence to address societal challenges. Since releasing the Evidence Commission report in January 2022, the Evidence Commission has focused its efforts on three implementation priorities:
• formalizing and strengthening domestic evidence support systems (recommendations 5-8, 12, 14, 16 from its report)
• enhancing and leveraging the global evidence architecture (recommendations 9-11, 17-24)
• putting evidence at the centre of everyday life (recommendations 13, 15)
In this webinar, we'll share our progress and 2023 action plan for advancing these priorities. The webinar will also launch the Evidence Commission Implementation Council, which will bolster our collective efforts to move from recommendations into action.

The webinar will be co-hosted by the Secretariat Executive Lead Jenn Thornhill Verma and Secretariat Co-Lead Jeremy Grimshaw, and will feature a brief update by Secretariat Co-Lead John Lavis, with discussions featuring Laura dos Santos Boeira (nongovernmental organization leader working to strengthen evidence support systems in Latin America). Commissioners David Halpern (government policymaker from the United Kingdom), Maureen Smith (citizen leader from Canada) and Modupe Adefeso-Olateju (non-governmental organization leader from Nigeria), as well as Implementation Council members Ruth Stewart (research leaders from South Africa) as well as Sunu Alice Cherian (research leader from India) will also share their insights. Other speakers to be confirmed.
